Elephanite Island has Gone Through Many Different Stages of Development Over Time

For example today there are still the remnants of a small Old Kingdom pyramid that can be found here that is if you can get over to that area to see it. It's usually off limits. The satet temple which is found on the site is an excellent example of the many phases of occupation renovation and reuse that the island has been through. The archaeological work on the site has shown that there have been at least seven different Renovations and Evolutions to the temple structure ranging from around 2 800 BCE in the early dynastic times to nearly 3 000 years later when it took the form of the Temple of Ptolemy VI and then the eighth in the Greek Roman period.
