The Edging on this Box is Remarkable Especially Given the Time Period it was Built In
Returning now to the Granite box or the shrine at elephantine Island there is a very unique aspect to this artifact something that doesn't seem to be on the other examples and it's something that can tell us a little bit more about how it might have been made. It's this section of the edging that runs around the top of the box on one side. For approximately half the length of the edging. It appears to be unfinished and it is remarkably faceted. It has a series of precise flat surfaces distinguished by very straight lines that outline a rough semicircular shape.
