The Edging seen on Elephanite Island's Boxes Were Made By Directly Carving into a Stone Slab?!
The other notable feature of this box and this is the one that we're going to take a closer look at is the semi-circular edging that runs around the top and bottom of the artifact. I don't really know what to call it a balustrade or a cornice but let's just settle on calling it an edging for the purposes of this video. This edging runs around the top of the box and you can also see here the intersection where it also ran down the sides with apparently a little thicker diameter before the box was damaged and all of this edging was smashed off considering this edging just on its own. It's hard to come to any other conclusion that it being quite remarkable. As this box wasn't assembled it wasn't bolted or glued together. It was instead carved from a single piece of stone.
